Biography

Katy Kelly studied for her Graduate Performance Diploma in Opera at the Boston Conservatory, and for her MMus in Performance from the Conservatory of Music and Drama in Dublin under Anne Marie O'Sullivan. She qualified as a Regional Finalist at the Metropolitan Opera New England National Council Awards (USA), and has won many prizes for her singing in Europe, including the IAWS John McCormack Bursary. Katy has represented Ireland in many premier European competitions including Belvedere International Singing Competition (Vienna), the IVC (Holland), and the Stuart Burrows (Wales), for which she received the runners up prize. She has performed in Carnegie Hall with the Thomas Moore Festival, and she is a regular performer at the National Concert Hall, Dublin.

Operatic performances include “Donna Anna” in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, “Countess” in Le Nozze di Figaro, Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, and Le Feu/Le Rossignol in Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortilèges, “Euridice” in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, “Musetta” in Puccini’s La Boheme, and “Sandman” in Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel. 
 
Oratorio includes Faure’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Beethoven’s Fantasie, Poulenc's Gloria, Rutter's Magnificat, Bach's St John Passion, Beethoven's Mass in C, Bach's Magnificat, Christmas Oratorio & St John's Passion,  Dvořák's Stabat Mater,  Mozart's Requiem, Mass in C & Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, Haydn's The Creation, Paukenmesse, Missa Brevis & Nelson Mass, Handel’s Messiah, Dixit Dominus & Coronation Mass, Saint-Saens’ Oratorio de Noel, and Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Elijah, M. Haydn's Sancti Leopoldi & Vespers & Jenkin's The Armed Man. 

Her recordings include six songs on the first full catalogue of Moore's melodies in 2009, and she was the featured soloist on the AIB Choral Society CD, "Simply Christmas". She recorded the “Königin der Nacht” arias for the RTÉ television programme "The Symphony Sessions-the Sopranos. She was featured on the RTE1 TV programme “Abhainn”. Her CD, "A Few of My Favourite Sings" is available from her website and from the iTunes Store. 

 
Upcoming performances include Handel's Messiah, Gjeilo's Tundra, Arneson's Magnificat and Haydn's Theresienmesse, as well as various operatic concerts.
